Main Policies
Sale of e-cigarettes
The law prohibits the import, sale, and offer for sale of any confectionery or other food product or any toy or other article that is designed to resemble tobacco products or which is sold in a package designed to resemble the packaging commonly associated with tobacco products. This is interpreted as prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes.
Use in indoor public places, workplaces, and public transport
The law prohibits the use of e-cigarettes where smoking is prohibited. Smoking is prohibited in virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces, on sidewalks near business premises and within a six-meter radius of smoke free buildings. However, hotel guest rooms are not required to be smoke free. Smoking is also prohibited on all means of public transport except on trains and watercraft. Outdoor areas of "government premises" and "office premises" are also smoke free. Because use is not prohibited in all these places, the regulatory status code “Some Restrictions” is given.
Advertising and promotion (excluding point of sale product display)
There is no law addressing e-cigarette advertising and promotion; therefore, advertising, and promotion of e-cigarettes are allowed.
