Analysis
The Tobacco and Vaping Products Act prohibits any person from furnishing a tobacco product to a young person. Under the Act, the definition of "young person" means "a person under eighteen years of age", and the definition of "furnish" includes selling or giving.
Note, however, the some Canadian provinces and territories have established a higher minimum legal sales age (e.g., 19, 21).
The law meets FCTC Art. 16 in that it prohibits the sale of tobacco products to minors.
