Enforcement Authorities
Health Authority
Article 15 of the law states: “The Health Authority shall enforce compliance with this law and, in the event that any infractions are ascertained, it shall report the matter to the competent Local Police Magistrate.” The Manual for Implementation for the Law on Tobacco Control sets out the inspection protocol for enforcement authorities.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines in that it identifies enforcement authorities and contains a duty to enforce.
Municipality Inspectors
Article 15 of the law states: “The inspectors of the respective municipality shall also oversee compliance with this law, and shall prosecute any infractions they discover. . . .” The Manual for Implementation for the Law on Tobacco Control sets out the inspection protocol for enforcement authorities.

Local Police Magistrate

Maritime, River, and Lake Police
Maritime, river, and lake police are responsible for enforcement of the prohibition on smoking on beaches (sea, rivers, lakes).
