Analysis

Anyone who sells individual units of tobacco products are subject to a fine of 1,000,000 to 5,000,000 Francs CFA. In case of repeat offenses, the offender may be subject to cancellation of his license or a prohibition on practicing within the territory of Côte d’Ivoire. The relevant jurisdiction will confiscate and destroy products sold illegally.

The law does not include a penalty for the sale of packs with fewer than 20 cigarettes.

Analysis

Anyone who sells, or causes to be sold, tobacco products to a minor is subject to imprisonment for a period of one to five years and a fine of 10,000,000 to 100,000,000 francs CFA, or only one of these two punishments. The relevant jurisdiction will confiscate and destroy all products.
