Post signs
The law requires business owners to post signs. Failure to post signs regarding the rules on smoking is subject to a fine in the amount of 500 laris, and for repeated offences 1,000 laris.
The law also specifies that signs must include “a contact telephone number or other contact information.”
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to the duty to post signs.
Remove ashtrays
The law imposes a duty upon business owners/employers/supervisors to ensure that ashtrays are not present in smoke free places. Violations of this duty will result in a fine in the amount of 500 laris. Repeated violations will result in a fine in the amount of 1,000 laris.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to imposing a duty upon business owners, employers and supervisors to remove ashtrays from smoke free places.
Steps to require a person to stop smoking (e.g., warn, discontinue service, call authorities)
Failure of business owners/employers/supervisors to stop smoking in buildings or transportation where smoking is prohibited will result in a fine in the amount of 500 laris. Repeated violations will result in a fine in the amount of 1,000 laris.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to imposing a duty upon business owners, employers and supervisors to take steps to require a person to stop smoking.
Not to smoke where prohibited
Failure to comply with the rules prohibiting smoking in designated facilities will result in a fine in the amount of 500 laris. Repeated violations will result in a fine in the amount of 1,000 laris.
