Public Health Law No. 47 of 2008

Chapter 12 of the Public Health Law, which is the primary piece of tobacco control legislation in Jordan, addresses smoke free places, tobacco advertising and promotion, and tobacco packaging and labeling. Traffic Law of 2008
COMMENTS: Traffic Law, No. 49 of 2008, among other things, prohibits smoking in public transport vehicles (Article 39) and smoking in school buses (Article 38).

Technical Regulation JS 446:2012 (5th ed.), Tobacco and Tobacco Products - Cigarettes
COMMENTS: Jordanian Standard 466/2012 implements the tobacco packaging and labeling provision in the Public Health Law (Article 56). These implementing regulations set forth, among other things, labeling requirements; the content, format and placement of health warnings; and a prohibition on misleading terms and descriptors.
Tobacco Products Display Regulation of 2013
COMMENTS: Tobacco Products Display Regulation, Regulation Number 73 of 2013, implements Art. 63.B.2 of the Public Health Law, which states that tobacco products may only be displayed in accordance with regulations. The regulations allow the display of tobacco products only in display units, with no writing, logos, trademarks or other advertising on the unit. A price list with product name and price is allowed. The regulations require the Minister to issue instructions to implement the regulations, including the maximum number of display units allowed and requirements for such units.
