COMMENTS: The Tobacco Act of 1970 regulates tobacco growing and wholesale buying, selling, and exporting of tobacco.
Consumer Protection Act, 2003
COMMENTS: The Consumer Protection Act of 2003 establishes general principles of consumer protection, establishes a Consumer Protection Council, governs consumer contracts with suppliers and service providers, and regulates advertising. Potentially pertinent to tobacco control, it prohibits false or misleading advertising and requires warning labels on harmful products. To the best of our knowledge, these provisions have not been applied to tobacco products.
