Post signs

The law requires all managers of public places and public transportation to prominently post about the smoking prohibition. First-time violations are subject to a fine of 500 Ougiya with the fine doubling for repeat offenses. Publication of convicted violators is also permitted.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines in that it requires the posting of signs and increased fines for repeat offenses.
Remove ashtrays
The law imposes no duty upon business owners, employers, or supervisors to remove ashtrays. To align with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines, the law or forthcoming administrative order implementing the law should impose such a duty and impose penalties for violations of that duty.
Steps to require a person to stop smoking (e.g., warn, discontinue service, call authorities)
The law imposes no duty upon business owners, employers, or supervisors to take steps to require a person to stop smoking in violation of the law. To align with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines, the law or forthcoming administrative order implementing the law should impose such a duty and impose penalties for violations of that duty.
