Penalties
Sales Restrictions
There are no sales restrictions on tobacco products (other than a prohibition on the sale of single cigarettes resulting from a requirement that cigarettes must be sold in packets of at least 20). There are no associated penalties.
Location-based Sales Restrictions
A violation of the ban on selling cigarettes or smoked tobacco products around educational institutions is punishable by a fine of up to 5,000 rupees. A repeat offense is punishable by imprisonment for up to three months, a fine of not less than 100,000 rupees, or both. This provision may be enforced by a police officer not below the rank of sub-inspector.
Minimum Retail Package Size
Neither the No Smoking Ordinance nor SRO 863(I)/2010, which prohibits the manufacture and import of cigarettes packs containing fewer than 20 sticks, explicitly provides for penalties for violations of this minimum retail package size requirement.
Minimum Legal Sales Age
