Penalties
Sales Restrictions
(e.g., seizure of the product, publication of the violation/violator)
Violations of sales restrictions are punishable by up to one year in prison, a fine between 200 and 1000 dinars, or both. The law also establishes that the tobacco products or the vending machines in breach shall be confiscated and the factory or store where the violation occurred may be closed.
The Anti-Smoking Law and Regulations state that the "competent authorities" "shall enforce" the provisions of the law and regulations. However, neither the law nor the regulations explicitly authorize a specific agency with enforcement authority.
