Smoke Free Status of Indoor Public Places, Workplaces, and Public Transport
All indoor workplaces
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed workplace. Although the definition of “workplace” includes an exemption for private residences, it does not extend to those private residences used for commercially operated childcare activities; therefore, these places must also be 100% smoke free.

All indoor public places
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place.

All public transport
The law prohibits smoking on taxis, buses, trains, aircraft, watercraft, and any other public conveyance.

Government facilities
The law prohibits smoking in any public space or enclosed workplace including all government-owned or occupied facilities and publicly owned facilities rented out for public events.

Private offices
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed workplace including offices, factories, and other workplaces.

Hospitals
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including healthcare institutions and facilities.
Therefore, the law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to hospitals.
Residential healthcare facilities - public areas
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including healthcare institutions and facilities.

Non-residential healthcare facilities
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including healthcare institutions and facilities.

Childcare facilities/preschools

Primary and secondary schools
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including places specifically for the use of children and educational and vocational facilities at all levels of instruction.

Universities/vocational facilities

Shops

Therefore, the law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to cultural facilities.
Indoor stadium/arenas
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including sports and recreational facilities and any other places or facilities that are accessible to the public, are places of collective use, or that are workplaces that do not include privately owned residences.
Therefore, the law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to indoor stadiums/arenas.
Restaurants
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including restaurants.

Bars/pubs/nightclubs
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including bars, dance clubs, and all other places where food, drink, gaming, or entertainment of any kind are provided.

Casinos
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including casinos and all other places where food, drink, gaming, or entertainment of any kind are provided.

Hotels/lodging - public areas
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace including places of lodging.
Therefore, the law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to the public areas of hotels/lodging.
Hotels/lodgings - guest rooms
The law prohibits smoking in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace, which includes lodging, but the law does not specifically address guest rooms. Therefore, the regulatory status code “Uncertain” is given.
To align with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines, the law should explicitly prohibit smoking in guest rooms in hotels and lodging facilities.
Prisons/detention facilities - public areas
The law prohibits smoking in any public space or enclosed workplace including all government-owned or occupied facilities and any other places or facilities that are accessible to the public, are places of collective use, or that are workplaces that do not include privately owned residences.
