Enforcement Authorities
Royal Bhutan Police
The Royal Bhutan Police have a duty to enforce the provisions of the smoking ban. The regulations give police the power to enter, at any reasonable time, any place where smoking is prohibited under the law.
Authorized officers
The Tobacco Control Board may authorize an officer from a relevant agency to enforce the provisions of the law. Relevant to smoke free places, authorized officers may enter any place where smoking is prohibited if s/he has reason to believe someone is smoking in violation of the law.
Security forces
Security forces have a duty to implement the provisions of the law in all premises and areas that are under their jurisdiction. This includes ensuring that the appropriate signs are displayed in smoke free places.
Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority
The Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority has a duty to inspect any hotel, motel, inn, lodging, or restaurant to ensure that it is complying with the provisions of the law regulating smoking in public places.
Road Safety and Transport Authority
The Road Safety and Transport Authority has a duty to enforce the smoking ban in means of public transport and to ensure that the appropriate signs are displayed in smoke free places.
