Sales Restrictions
Any person who engages in prohibited advertising, promotion, or sponsorship of tobacco products is subject to 2-6 months in prison and/or a fine of 100,000-1,000,000 Burundian francs.
Any person who sells, puts up for sale or authorizes the sale of tobacco products to a minor, a non-smoker or a pregnant woman, including tobacco products available through automatic vending machines is subject to 2-6 months in prison and/or a fine of 50,000-500,000 Burundian francs.
Location-based Sales Restrictions
Anyone who violates a location-based restriction is subject to 3 months - 1 year or a fine of 100,000-500,000 Burundian francs.
Minimum Retail Package Size
The law does not regulate the minimum size of tobacco product packages; therefore, there are no associated penalties.
Minimum Legal Sales Age
