Action Required for Advertising, Promotion and Sponsorship Not Banned
Disclosure to the government by the tobacco industry of information on advertising, promotion and sponsorship activities and expenditures
The law prohibits all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship. In addition to the prohibition, the law requires manufacturers, wholesale distributors, and importers of tobacco products to submit a report on any advertising, promotion and sponsorship undertaken during the relevant reporting period.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 13 and the FCTC Art. 13 Guidelines with respect to disclosure of information on advertising, promotion and sponsorship activities and expenditures.
Health warning messages required on permitted forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship
There is a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship. Therefore, this requirement is not applicable.
Disclosed information readily available to the public
The law prohibits all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship. In addition to the prohibition, the law requires manufacturers, wholesale distributors, and importers of tobacco products to submit a report on any advertising, promotion and sponsorship undertaken during the relevant reporting period. Manufacturers, wholesale distributors and importers of tobacco products must also submit reports containing a variety of information relating to advocacy and lobbying, including payments made to scientists, researchers, journalists, and government employees or entities. These reports are public in nature.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 13 and the FCTC Art. 13 Guidelines with respect to disclosure of information available to the public.
