Ministry of Public Health
The Ministry of Public Health is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Tobacco Control Act, 2017. The Minister creates and is advised by, the National Tobacco Control Council. The Minister authorizes “officers.”
Officers
Officers carry out inspections, investigations, and enforcement of the Tobacco Control Act, 2017. An “officer” means a police officer, customs officer, any inspector or officer employed with the Ministry with responsibility for public health, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards, the Occupational Safety and Health Authority or the Environmental Protection Agency, any other person upon whom any written law vests functions of maintenance of law and order, and any other person authorized by the Minister by notice published in the Gazette.
