The law prohibits smoking or carrying an “activated alternative smoking product”, which, by definition, includes HTPs, in most indoor public places, workplaces, or public transport. While Schedule 2, Part 1 provides an extensive list of types of places where HTPs smoking is not permitted, the law makes several exceptions in Schedule 2, Part 2. These include hotel rooms, designated areas in airports and correctional/detention facilities, and tasting rooms in cigar shops. Additionally, there is a limited exemption under the Road Traffic Regulations permitting HTP smoking in taxis and buses when privately hired.
