Disclosure Requirements
Disclosure by manufacturers and importers of cigarettes to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes
The law does not require manufacturers or importers of cigarettes to disclose to government authorities information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their products.
To align with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines, the law should require disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes.
Disclosure by manufacturers and importers of cigarettes to government authorities of information on the emissions of their cigarettes
While the law requires that packages of cigarettes display information on levels of tar and nicotine (which does not align with FCTC Art. 11 and the FCTC Art. 11 Guidelines), the law does not require manufacturers or importers of cigarettes to disclose to government authorities information on the emissions of their products.
To align with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines, the law should require disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the emissions of their cigarettes.
Disclosed information readily available to the public
The law does not require disclosure to government authorities of information about the contents and emissions of cigarettes. Therefore, the law does not require that such information be readily available to the public.
To align with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines, the law should require that disclosed information be made readily available to the public.
