Smoke Free Status of Indoor Public Places, Workplaces, and Public Transport
All indoor workplaces
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in most indoor workplaces. However, smoking is specifically permitted in designated areas of dining facilities and public transport facilities. Because these places are workplaces for some people, the regulatory status code "Smoking is Restricted" is given.
To align with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines, the law should prohibit smoking in all indoor workplaces.
All indoor public places
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in most indoor public places. However, smoking is specifically permitted in designated areas of dining facilities and public transport facilities. Therefore, the regulatory status code "Smoking is Restricted" is given.

The law prohibits tobacco consumption on the premises of healthcare institutions, which includes hospitals.

Residential healthcare facilities - public areas
The law prohibits tobacco consumption on the premises of healthcare institutions, which includes public areas of residential healthcare facilities.

Non-residential healthcare facilities
The law prohibits tobacco consumption on the premises of healthcare institutions, which includes non-residential healthcare facilities.

Childcare facilities/preschools
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in the buildings and on the premises of institutions of education and at facilities for the recreation of minors, which is interpreted as including childcare facilities/preschools.

Primary and secondary schools
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in the buildings and on the premises of institutions of education, which includes primary and secondary schools.

Universities/vocational facilities
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in the buildings and on the premises of institutions of education, which includes universities and vocational facilities.

Shops
The law prohibits tobacco consumption on premises that are work sites or work zones, which is interpreted as including shops.

Cultural facilities
The law prohibits tobacco consumption at cultural sites, museums, libraries and lecture halls, theaters, circuses, and concert, observation, and exhibition halls.

Indoor stadium/arenas
The law prohibits tobacco consumption at sports and athletic training facilities, sports arenas, and other facilities intended for public recreation.

Restaurants
The law restricts tobacco consumption at public dining venues to designated smoking areas.

The law prohibits tobacco consumption at nightclubs and discotheques. However, the law restricts tobacco consumption in public dining venues, which is interpreted to include bars and pubs, to designated smoking areas. Therefore, the regulatory status code “Smoking is Restricted” is given.
To align with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines, the law should prohibit smoking in bars, pubs, and nightclubs.
Casinos
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in other facilities intended for public recreation, which is interpreted as including casinos.

Hotels/lodging - public areas
The law prohibits tobacco consumption on premises that are work sites or work zones, which is interpreted as including public areas of hotels.

Hotels/lodgings - guest rooms
The law does not specifically address smoking in hotels and other lodging. Prisons/detention facilities - public areas

The law prohibits tobacco consumption on local and long-distance trains, in the passenger compartments of municipal, suburban, and inter-city vehicular public transportation, the subway system, and “public transport carrying out regular and non-routine conveyance of passengers and baggage.

Taxis (for-hire vehicle)
The law prohibits tobacco consumption in taxi cabs.
