Smoke Free Status of Indoor Public Places, Workplaces, and Public Transport
All indoor workplaces
All indoor workplaces are smoke free. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 with respect to smoking in indoor workplaces.
All indoor public places
All indoor public places are smoke free. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building.

All public transport
The law prohibits smoking inside land, sea, and air public transportation vehicles.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in public transport. However, to clarify the scope of the ban, the law should contain a definition of "public transport" in accordance with the definition provided in the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines.
Government facilities
All indoor public offices are smoke free. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, all government facilities are smoke free.

Private offices
The law prohibits smoking in private offices. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building.

Hospitals
The law prohibits smoking in all "health service facilities," which is interpreted to include hospitals.

Residential healthcare facilities - public areas
The law prohibits smoking in all "health service facilities," which is interpreted to include public areas of residential healthcare facilities.

Non-residential healthcare facilities
The law prohibits smoking in all "health service facilities," which is interpreted to include non-residential healthcare facilities.

Childcare facilities/preschools
The law prohibits smoking in all educational facilities, which is interpreted to include all childcare facilities and preschools.

Primary and secondary schools
The law prohibits smoking in all educational facilities, which is interpreted to include primary and secondary schools.

Universities/vocational facilities
The law prohibits smoking in all educational facilities, which is interpreted to include universities and vocational facilities.

Shops
The law prohibits smoking in all "trade centers, department stores, markets and general stores." Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, all indoor shops are smoke free.

Cultural facilities
The law prohibits smoking in all "public parks, museums, cultural halls, theaters, gymnasiums, cinema halls, religious facilities, memorials and convention halls." This is interpreted as including cultural facilities. Therefore, all cultural facilities are smoke free.

Indoor stadium/arenas
The law prohibits smoking in all "sports facilities", gymnasiums, and “crowded places.” Therefore, all indoor stadiums and arenas are smoke free.

Restaurants
The law prohibits smoking in restaurants. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, all indoor restaurants are smoke free.

Bars/pubs/nightclubs
The law prohibits smoking in food and beverage outlets; and karaoke and entertainment venues. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, all bars, pubs, and nightclubs are smoke free.

Casinos
The law prohibits smoking in entertainment venues, which is interpreted to include casinos. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, all casinos are smoke free.

Hotels/lodging - public areas
The law prohibits smoking in guesthouses and hotels. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, all indoor public areas of hotels are smoke free.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in public areas of hotels and lodging.
Hotels/lodgings - guest rooms
The law prohibits smoking in guesthouses and hotels. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, hotel guestrooms may not be designated as smoking areas and must be smoke free.

Prisons/detention facilities - public areas
The law prohibit“ smoking in "public offices." This provision is interpreted as including all state-run prisons and detention facilities and their public areas. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, public areas of prisons and detention facilities are smoke free.

Trains, buses and other shared ground transportation other than taxis
The law prohibits smoking inside of land, sea, and air public transportation vehicles. This is interpreted as including all trains, buses, and other shared ground transportation.

However, to clarify the scope of the ban, the law should contain a definition of "public transport" in accordance with the definition provided in the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines.
Taxis (for-hire vehicle)
The law prohibits smoking inside of land, sea, and air public transportation vehicles. This is interpreted as including taxis.

Public transport facilities (waiting areas for mass transit)
The law prohibits smoking in building at bus and train stations, airports, harbor stations, and other public places. Any designated smoking areas must be outdoors and at least 10 meters away from the building. Therefore, indoor public transport facilities are smoke free.

Places where inflammable materials and substances are present
The law prohibits smoking in places where inflammable materials and substances are present.
Religious Facilities
The law prohibits smoking in religious facilities.
