There is no law generally addressing e-cigarette advertising and promotion. The National Film and Video Censors Board Regulations, 2024, however, include e-cigarettes in its definition of tobacco products. E-cigarette advertising or promotion in films, musical videos, or skits accordingly is prohibited. No person further shall exhibit or distribute film or music video productions “which contain depiction, promotion, advertisement or glamourisation” of e-cigarettes, e-cigarette brands or e-cigarette use.

The regulations additionally prohibit unpaid depiction of e-cigarettes in film and music videos that is unnecessary, such as where e-cigarette use is not required for historical accuracy and educational purposes and depicts a negative lifestyle. Where such use is necessary, there shall be no display of the nicotine brand or pack and "no film, skit, or musical video shall carry any form of brand marketing or promotion of any insignia or marketing of any tobacco or nicotine company or product name.” A health warning additionally must run for the duration of the e-cigarette use in the scene. The regulations further require producers or directors of films to disclose to the Board any financial, social, or other relationships with the tobacco or nicotine industry.
