COMMENTS: The Family Code establishes the age of majority.
Law No. 13 of January 24, 2008 “Which Adopts Measures to Control Tobacco and its Harmful Effects on Health”
COMMENTS: Law No. 13 is a comprehensive law that defines key terms and covers many areas of tobacco control. These areas include restrictions on public smoking; packaging and labeling; advertising, promotion and sponsorship; and breaches of the law, among others.
Executive Order No. 230 of May 6, 2008
COMMENTS: Executive Order (E.O.) No. 230 regulates Law No. 13 of January 24, 2008. E.O. No. 230 expands the list of smoke free places and outlines the duties of various parties in carrying out the restrictions on public smoking. E.O. No. 230 also expands upon health warning requirements. In addition, the E.O. authorizes public health authorities to impose sanctions for violations of the E.O.
Ministry of Health Resolution No. 809 of October 6, 2008
COMMENTS: Resolution No. 809 of October 6, 2008 amends a previous resolution by establishing new pictorial health warnings which must be printed on tobacco product packaging. Note that the English Language translation does not contain the images or accompanying text warnings.
Ministry of Health Resolution No. 660 of August 11, 2009
COMMENTS: Resolution No. 660 of August 11, 2009 bans the import, sale, and commercialization of e-cigarettes. This resolution was repealed and replaced by Resolution No. 2742 of August 21, 2017, which maintained the ban on e-cigarettes.

Executive Decree No. 611 of June 3, 2010
COMMENTS: Executive Decree No. 611 amends Article 18 of Executive Order No. 230. Decree No. 611 permits merchants to place a textual list of products for sale, alongside their respective prices. The decree spells out further specifications for such signs.

Ministry of Health Resolution No. 0415 of March 2, 2016
COMMENTS: Resolution No. 0415 of March 2, 2016 requires that no-smoking signs be posted in smoke free areas to indicate that it is prohibited to use electronic cigarettes, vaporizers, and similar products, whether or not the products contain nicotine.

In addition, the resolution extended the validity of the health warnings contained in Resolution No. 1335 of June 28, 2018.

The validity of the health warnings was later extended to November 30, 2023 by Resolution No. 0153 of January 1, 2023.
Law No. 315 of June 30, 2022
COMMENTS: Law No. 315 of June 30, 2022 prohibits the use, import, and sale of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products. It establishes by law what was previously contained in two ministerial resolutions - Resolution No. 2742 of August 21, 2017 (banning the sale and use of e-cigarettes) and Resolution No. 0953 of May 15, 2018 (banning the sale and use of heated tobacco products).
