Violators of packaging and labeling provisions are subject to a fine of 75,000 lei to 100,000 lei. Products that do not conform to packaging and labeling shall be seized and destroyed.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 11 and the FCTC Art. 11 Guidelines in that it imposes penalties for violations of packaging and labeling provisions. To more fully align, the drafters of the law might also consider imposing license suspension or cancellation and higher fines for repeat violations.
