COMMENTS: The Health Services (Amendment) Act contains the definition of “tobacco product.”

COMMENTS: The Health Services (Protection of Minors from Tobacco Products) Regulations regulated the sale of tobacco products to minors. These regulations were repealed by the Health Services (Smoking) Regulations of 2017 and are offered for informational purposes only.

COMMENTS: The Health Services (Amendment) Act amends the Health Services Act to include a definition of “electronic smoking device,” and provides that the law is “for the protection of persons, particularly minors from the consumption of tobacco products and electronic smoking devices and from exposure to tobacco smoke and emissions from electronic smoking devices.”

COMMENTS: The Health Services (Packaging and Labeling of Tobacco Products) Regulations are the primary instrument on packaging and labeling, outlining the authority responsible for creating warnings, the number of warnings that must be used and when, how warnings should be displayed, and related offences. COMMENTS: The Health Services (Smoking) Regulations are the primary instrument addressing smoke-free areas, protection of minors, and tobacco advertising and promotion. The regulations designate certain areas as smoke-free, restrict certain forms of advertising and promotion, and announce the powers of inspectors.
