Sales Age
Does the law establish a minimum age for the purchase of tobacco products?
The law prohibits selling or giving a “cigar” to anyone under the age of 18. The law defines “cigar” to mean any cigarette, cheroot, cigar, smoking pipe and any other similar material prepared by any means for inhalation of smoke emitted from the burning of tobacco product. Therefore, the law prohibits selling or giving any smoked tobacco product to a person under the age of 18.
The law meets FCTC Art. 16 in that it prohibits the sale of tobacco products to minors.
