Sales Restrictions
Violators of the ban on single cigarette sales are subject to a fine between 1,000 to 3,000 kyats for the first offense; and for second and subsequent offenses, a fine between 3,000 to10,000 kyats.
Violators of the ban on vending machine sales are subject to a fine between 10,000 to 30,000 kyats for the first offense; and for second and subsequent offenses, imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year and a fine between 30,000 to 100,000 kyats.
The Ministry of Health is charged with implementing the law, but it is not clear whether or to what extent that includes inspections and enforcement.
