Smoke Free Status of Indoor Public Places, Workplaces, and Public Transport
All indoor workplaces
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in all indoor areas in workplaces.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in workplaces.
All indoor public places
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in all indoor areas in public places.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in indoor public places. However, to aid in enforcement and clarify the scope of the ban, the law should contain a definition of “indoor” or “enclosed” in accordance with the definition provided in the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines.
All public transport
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in public transportation.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in public transportation. However, to aid in enforcement and clarify the scope of the ban, the law should contain a definition of “public transport” in accordance with the definition provided in the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines.
Government facilities
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in government facilities.

Private offices

Hospitals
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in hospitals.

Residential healthcare facilities - public areas
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in public areas of residential healthcare facilities.

Non-residential healthcare facilities
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in non-residential healthcare facilities.

Childcare facilities/preschools
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in childcare facilities and preschools.

Primary and secondary schools

Universities/vocational facilities

Shops

Restaurants
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in restaurants.

Bars/pubs/nightclubs
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in bars, pubs, and nightclubs.

Casinos

Hotels/lodging - public areas
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in public areas of hotels and lodging.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in indoor public places and workplaces, including public areas of hotels and lodging.
Hotels/lodgings - guest rooms
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” However, because the law does not specifically address hotel guest rooms, the regulatory status code "Uncertain" is given.
To align with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines, the law should prohibit smoking in all indoor public places and workplaces, including guest rooms of hotels and lodging.
Prisons/detention facilities - public areas
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be . . .” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in public areas of prisons and detention facilities.

Trains, buses and other shared ground transportation other than taxis
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be, including transportation.” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in trains, buses, and other shared ground transportation.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 8 and the FCTC Art. 8 Guidelines with respect to smoking in trains, buses, and other shared ground transportation.
Taxis (for-hire vehicle)
Resolution 30 of 2011, Art. 3, prohibits smoking in “indoor areas in public places and in work places, whatever their use may be, including transportation.” Therefore, smoking is prohibited in taxis.

Commercial aircraft
