Manufacturers, Importers, Sellers, Individuals, Corporate Entities
Cigarettes that do not comply with the approved standard are subject to seizure and destruction. In addition, a person who manufactures, distributes, or sells cigarettes that do not conform to the approved standard is subject to a fine of not less than N200,000.00 or imprisonment of not less than one year, or both. In the case of a corporate entity, the fine shall be not less than N400,000.00.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 9 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Guidelines in that the law imposes sanctions for violations of content regulations.
Disclosure requirement
Manufacturers, importers
A person who violates disclosure provisions is subject to a fine of not less than N200,000.00 or imprisonment of not less than one year, or both. In the case of a corporate entity, the fine shall be not less than N400,000.00.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines in that the law imposes sanctions for disclosure violations.
