Advertising and Promotion

Anyone who violates the provisions on advertising and promotion is guilty of an offense and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term of 12 months or to both. In instances where the offense continues after conviction, the individual is subject to a fine of $200 each day or part of the day that the offense continues.
The law aligns with FCTC Art. 13 and FCTC Art. 13 in relation to penalties for violations of advertising and promotion laws.
Sponsorship
There are no restrictions on sponsorship of events or activities with the aim, effect or likely effect of promoting a tobacco product or its use. Accordingly, there are no associated penalties.
